Presentation of the Action “Strengthening Businesses for Research and Innovation”

The Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (EMTH) announces the new action “Support for enterprises for research and innovation” (Action RSO1.1.a) within the framework of the Regional Programme 2021-2027. The action aims to promote innovation and research activity of very small, small and medium-sized enterprises, enhancing their competitiveness in domestic and international markets.

Key Action Details

Total Budget: 8 million euros.
Subsidized Budget per Action: From €100,000 to €300,000.
Support Rates:
Industrial Research: Up to 70% for small enterprises and 60% for medium-sized enterprises.
Experimental Development: Up to 60% for small enterprises and 50% for medium-sized enterprises.
Conditions for Inclusion of Businesses

To participate in the action, interested businesses must meet the following conditions:

Legal Form and Commercial Activity:
Micro, small or medium-sized enterprises, as defined by Recommendation 2003/361/EC.
Businesses that keep single-entry or double-entry books and have a legal operation.
Eligible Sectors of Activity:
Materials and constructions.
Agri-food chain.
Sustainable energy.
Digital technologies, including applications in tourism, culture and creative industries.
Time Requirement:
At least two full closed financial years before submitting the application.
Financial Conditions:
The amount of the subsidized budget cannot exceed the highest turnover achieved in one of the last two closed fiscal years.
Geographical Coverage:
The investment project must be implemented exclusively in the AMTH Region.
Collaborations with Bodies:
Cooperation with research bodies (e.g. universities, research centers) or specialized enterprises is permitted for the implementation of part of the project.
Commitments:
The operation must not have started before the submission of the application.
The enterprise must not be in bankruptcy, liquidation or forced administration.
What the Subsidy Is About

The funding covers investments in:

Industrial Research:
Research aimed at acquiring new knowledge with a view to developing new products, services or processes.
Experimental Development:
Actions for the production of new or improved products, with an emphasis on practical application.
Eligible Costs:
Personnel: Cost of researchers and technicians employed exclusively on the project.
Equipment: Acquisition or use of specialized tools and machinery.
Services: Assignment of research to specialized bodies or individuals.
Indirect Costs: 7% of eligible direct costs.
Duration of Implementation:
Maximum duration of implementation: 36 months from the date of approval.
Application Submission Procedure

Start of Submissions: November 18, 2024.
End of Submissions: January 17, 2025.
Method of Submission: Electronically through OPSKE.
The evaluation will be comparative, based on predefined criteria, while the results will be announced through the websites of EYD AMTH, NSRF and EFEPAE.
